Moldovan president meets European Parliament President

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu had a meeting with European Parliament President Roberta Metsola today afternoon, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state thanked for the invitation to speak before the European MPs, after which the officials discussed the security situation in Moldova and in the region and the country’s efforts to help the Ukrainian refugees.   

At the discussion, Maia Sandu referred to the vision for future and the European aspirations of Moldova.

„I thanked President Metsola for the promotion of the European Parliament’s Resolution from 5 May, through which the EU member states and the European Commission were recommended to support the European perspective of our country. The giving of the status of country candidate to Moldova will encourage our efforts of domestic reformation, for the benefit of the citizens and EU will thus get a stable and reliable partner in the region,’’ Maia Sandu said.
