Moldovan president, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy discuss consequences of war in Ukraine

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today evening met High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, European Commission’s Vice-President Josep Borrell, the presidential press service has reported.
The officials discussed the programmes on assistance provided by the European Union to Moldova, including in order to diminish the consequences of the war in Ukraine, as well as the support for the post-pandemic recovery of the national economy. The sides also referred to Moldova’s humanitarian efforts meant for refugees from the neighbor country.
The head of state appreciated the European Union’s consistent assistance for Moldova’s democratic transformation and for the state’s consolidation, in the citizens’ interest.
„The offering of a European perspective to Moldova would allow us quicker advancing on this path, with the support of the Brussels partners,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the meeting.
