National Army sappers conduct research, demining missions

Chisinau, May 19 / MOLDPRES /- Soldiers of the 16th contingent of the National Army, deployed to the KFOR peacekeeping operation in Kosovo are carrying out specific missions.
According to contingent commander Vladimir Covalenco, Moldovan peacekeepers conduct daily combined patrols (by car and on foot) in the area of responsibility of the Regional-Western Command (CR-W). At the same time, the infantry guards the protection and defense of the objectives of major importance, including the Visoki Dečani Monastery.
He added that KFOR-16 sappers are conducting reconnaissance and clearing missions in the operational area of the explosives.
The KFOR-16 contingent was deployed to Kosovo in January 2022. Its term will be six months. The KFOR peacekeeping operation is being led by the North Atlantic Alliance in accordance with UN Resolution 1244.
