Moldovan parliament marks 31 years of activity

Chisinau, May 23 / MOLDPRES /- Today Moldovan parliament marks 31 years of activity. In this context, Speaker Igor Grosu came up with a message urging parliamentarians to be examples of behavior, responsibility, respect and solidarity.

"I want a Parliament for the needs of the people, as an equal discussion partner, open and always close ", his message reads.

Today, between 13:00 and 17:00, the Open Day will be organized in the Parliament. Grosu together with other MPs will be the guides of the people who will come to visit the parliamentary institution. Accompanied by visiting deputies, they will be able to see the plenary sitting room and the Europa hall. The route also includes the Parliament Museum, the press conference room, as well as an exhibition specially arranged for the public, dedicated to the 31st anniversary of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

Also today, the parliamentary workshop of democracy will be set up in the Parliament Square - a space for the citizens' discussions with the deputies. Also, in the square, the little visitors will enjoy various interactive activities.

On 23 May 1991, according to the decision of the Supreme Soviet of the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic, formed after the first democratic elections, the MSSR was transformed into the Republic of Moldova, and the Supreme Soviet became the first Parliament of the Republic of Moldova.

In the 31 years of activity, 12,357 acts have been adopted in the legislature.
