Zagarancea-Cornești main aqueduct in Ungheni to be rehabilitated, modernized

Chisinau, May 24 / MOLDPRES /- The Regional Development Agency (ADR) Centru, the Ungheni District Council and the executing company have signed an enterprise contract within the regional project that provides for the rehabilitation and extension of Zagarancea-Cornești main aqueduct, financed by the National Fund for Regional and Local Development (FNDRL).

"According to the contract, within twenty months, starting with May 2022, the contractor undertook to carry out the works provided in the enterprise contract, related to the rehabilitation, expansion / regionalization and modernization of water supply and sewerage infrastructure, as well as capacity development regional service providers. This project sees the rehabilitation of the Zagarancea-Cornești main interconnected aqueduct water treatment plant and its extension by 14,984 km. The value of the enterprise contract is 30 million 360 thousand lei (over three million euros) ", ADR Centru said.

Through the activities of the regional project, the local authorities aim to create conditions for the development of water and sewerage networks in 38 localities. „Currently, the town halls of Cornești, Boghenii Noi, Bumbăta, Rădenii Vechi, Pârlița, Teșcureni, Zagarancea, Manoilești, Unțești, Cetireni, Florițoaia Veche, Bușila, Todirești, Chirileni municipalities are developing their local networks, and the other town halls are working out technical projects under Zagarancea-Cornești main aqueduct ”, the quoted source said.

According to the local authorities, the achievement of the proposed objectives will improve the living conditions through access to quality drinking water for about 70 thousand inhabitants of Ungheni district.
