Over 300,000 Chisinau residents to pay tax on real estate

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - Over 300,000 Chisinau residents are to pay the tax on real estate. Under the legislation, the taxes are paid till 30 June 2022.  

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the head of the city hall’s tax collection and local taxes department, Cristina Vizitiu, said that the money was collected to the local budget. ‘’According to the legislation, the payment notices are sent till 15 June; yet, we endeavor to do this till mid-May, so that the citizens manage to pay the tax till the date indicated. As usual, the taxes are paid by about 85 per cent of the tax payers. This year, the taxes’ quotas remained the same,’’ Vizitiu noted.   

This is the second year in a row, when the citizens no longer benefit from a cut of 15 per cent for the payment of the tax till 30 June, following a legislative amendment made to the Fiscal Code.  

A penalty of 0.0301 per cent for every day of delay is imposed for the failure to pay the tax till 30 June.  

Under a decision by the Chisinau Municipal Council, the quota of the tax on real estate with dwelling purpose was established at a level of 0.185 per cent of the estimated value on the purpose of taxation, which is carried out by the cadastral body.   

The tax can be paid through financial institutions or through the service, Payment of tax on real estate with Payment notice, available on the website www.mpay.gov.md.
