Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with Czech minister for EU affairs

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with Czech Minister of EU Affairs Mikuláš Bek, during his visit to the Czech Republic. The officials discussed the Moldovan authorities’ determination for the reforms demanded by the citizens, aimed at European development and Moldova’s modernization, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.       

„I presented to the Czech official the arguments for giving Moldova the status of country candidate, which will help us edify together our future in a family of European democracies,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu noted.    

The Moldovan diplomacy head expressed appreciations for the firm support on behalf of the Czech Republic for Moldova’s European aspirations and rapprochement with EU. Popescu stressed that Moldova relied on the support of the Czech Republic for the acceptance of the concerned application and giving the status of country candidate.

For his part, Minister Mikuláš Bek conveyed the message of support on behalf of his country for Moldova’s European integration, which is to be promoted also in the context of the holding by the Czech Republic of the EU Council’s Presidency.
