Former Moldovan president placed under home arrest

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - The former Moldovan president, Igor Dodon, has been placed under home arrest for 30 days. Judges of the Chisinau Court issued a ruling to this effect today.  

Also today, Dodon’s brother-in-law, who was also detained, was placed under preventive arrest.  

Igor Dodon turns down the charges brought against him by prosecutors, and describes the file ‘’as being a political order.’’

The former head of state was detained in the beginning of this week, being suspected of having committed the offence provided for in the Article 324 (passive corruption), Article 181/2 (acceptance of financing of the political party by a criminal organization), Article 337 (high treason) and Article 330/2 (illicit enrichment).
