Chisinau, May 27 / MOLDPRES /- Employees of Green Spaces company in the capital are carrying out ragweed cutting works, which at this time of year are in an early stage of growth and are less harmful to the population.
Green Spaces company deputy head Andrei Grafov pointed out that at present, ragweed outbreaks are not recorded in Chisinau. "The situation is being monitored. The plants, at this stage of growth, are very small and are mowed daily by employees. If outbreaks occur, we are ready to intervene. Usually, we are notified by the civil society and by the administration of some institutions on whose territory the ragweed grows ", said Andrei Grafov.
Ambrose is an invasive plant, highly adaptable to climatic conditions, resistant to drought and heat, prefers sandy soils, less fertile, slightly alkaline, which places it in the category of dominant plants compared to agricultural crops. Its pollen is considered a very aggressive allergen with a negative impact on the health of the population.
Authorities have warned landowners of the need to destroy ragweed, which has become widespread in recent years, posing major dangers to both agriculture and human health. For the effective destruction of ragweed, the application of the mechanical and chemical method is recommended. At the same time, according to a Government regulation, the citizens have the obligation to cut the ragweed plant present on their land. People who do not comply with the provisions risk being sanctioned.
