Moldovan PM has meeting with U.S. senator

Chisinau, 29 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita and American senator Robert Portman, on a visit to Chisinau, today discussed Moldova’s European integration agenda, solutions to strengthen the national energy security, overcoming of the regional crisis, as well as the priorities of the Moldovan-American dialogue, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.    

The PM thanked the U.S. official for the interest and initiatives on backing the democracy, independence and territorial integrity of Moldova, as well as for the valuable assistance provided by the USA for Moldova’s development and overcoming the crises triggered by the war in Ukraine. In the context, the officials expressed the need to identify urgent solutions for settling the economic crisis and ensuring the food security in the region.

The sides also exchanged opinions on measures of fortifying the energy security and appreciated Moldova’s connection to the European electricity network.

For his part, senator Portman reconfirmed the USA’s commitment to provide every necessary support, in order to attenuate the consequences of the war and implement the reforms initiated by the government.
