CEC presented preliminary results of new local elections

Chisinau, May 30 / MOLDPRES /- Central Electoral Commission (CEC) presented the preliminary results of the new local elections for mayor that took place on Sunday.
The polling stations in all 10 localities where elections took place have completed the counting process.
Thus, in Glinjeni village, Falesti district, out of the 1,165 valid votes cast, about 49% were for the candidate of the Political Party Our Party.
In Zastânca village, Soroca district, out of the 795 valid votes cast, over 40% were in favor of the candidate of the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists. In Hagimus village, Causeni district, with 59% of the votes cast, the candidate of the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova, Veaceslav Cucerovschi, became mayor. In Zăicani, Râșcani district, mayor with over 91 percent of the votes cast, became the candidate of the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists, Victor Tăbîrța.
In Moara de Piatră, Drochia district, over 63 percent of voters voted for the candidate of the Electoral Bloc of Communists and Socialists, Valentina Bejenaru. In Ghetlova, Orhei district, about 40 percent of the votes were obtained by the candidate of the Shor Party. In Horodiște, Rezina district, mayor with over 89 percent of the vote was elected the candidate of the Political Party Action and Solidarity Party Dorel Iurcu. In Tătărești village, Straseni district, the mayor with over 64% of the votes became the candidate of the Political Party People's Power, Vladimir Celeev.
In accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code, the candidate for mayor is considered elected if he has gathered more than half of the validly cast votes of the voters who participated in the voting. If no candidate meets this condition, a second ballot shall be held within two weeks with two candidates having the highest number of votes in the first ballot.
