Chisinau, 30 May /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu today had a meeting with the European Union member states’ Ambassadors accredited in Moldova, the presidential press service has reported.

The head of state thanked the European Union member states for the assistance the country had benefitted from in the last three months for the management of the flow of refugees from Ukraine, as well as for the European support announced for Moldova at the Berlin Conference, held on 5 April. The sides also tackled the present situation in Moldova and in the region, which is strongly influenced by the economic and security problems triggered by the war in Ukraine.

„We shared our concerns as regards the energy segment and the increase in prices, which have negative effects on the residents and the economy. I noted, at the same time, that despite the difficult situation, we are resolute to continue the reforms in the economy and justice, to edify the energy independence and consolidate the state’s institutions, to preserve the democracy and follow the country’s European path,’’ President Maia Sandu said. According to the head of state, the European integration is the goal towards which all the efforts of the authorities are directed.

„We want to persuade the European institutions of the seriousness with which we approach this process and to anchor Moldova in the value, political and economic area of the European Union. This is the most important signal of hope, which our country and citizens need,’’ President Maia Sandu said at the end of the meeting.
