Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members, at a today’s meeting, accepted the appointment of Dumitru Obada to the office of governmental agent at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR).
ECHR works as the single guarantor of the observance by the High signatories of the European Convention on Human Rights and the single authority of its interpretation. The structure functions only based on the Convention and the Court’s own Regulation, in which it describes its own procedure.
The governments are represented before the European Court by governmental agents (Article 35 of the European Court’s Regulation), appointed in each state according to its own internal procedures. The ensuring of the work of the governmental agent’s institution is necessary, in order to guarantee the continuity of the representation and of the procedures before the European Court, including in situations of enforcing temporary measures.
