Compensation for transport services for disabled people to be increased in Moldova

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The compensations for the transport services for the people with severe, pronounced and locomotor disabilities, as well as for disabled children will be increased by 33.3 per cent. The cabinet took a decision to this effect today. The increased payments will be calculated starting from the second quarter of this year, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At the same time, the people with pronounced disabilities from Moldova’s districts and the Balti municipality will benefit from a quarterly compensation worth 180 lei, which will standardize the quantum of compensations provided for the transport services and will be in accordance with the Constitutional Court Ruling from 24 February 2022.
The additional financial means needed for increasing the concerned compensation, amounting to 54.5 million lei, were approved through the amendments made to the State Budget Law of 2022.
The compensation for the transport services is provided to people with locomotor disabilities, people with severe and pronounced disabilities, disabled children, at the place of residence, from the state budget, through transfers with special purpose to the budgets of the administrative and territorial units of the second level.
About 139,000 people benefit from compensations for transport services, of whom about 10,000 are children with disabilities.
