USAID to support creation of new digital licensing programs

Chisinau, June 9 / MOLDPRES /- The Future Technologies Project (FTA), funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and Sweden, signed a partnership agreement yesterday with Crunchyroll, an American company, a member of Sony Group, considered a global leader in video and animation.

FTA will work with Crunchyroll to develop three new undergraduate programs at partner universities in Moldova: Animation, Game Design and New Media.

The gaming market is expected to reach $ 339.95 billion by 2027 with 3.2 million global users, and the entertainment market to reach $ 642.5 billion by 2030. The rapid development of the areas creates opportunities for Moldovan youth and professionals in the creative and technology sector.

"USAID contributes to the training of young people in the Republic of Moldova for the professions of the future and to the adaptation of the Moldovan economy to the new realities of the digital sector," a USAID statement reads.

In Moldova, the animation and video game development industry is growing, with a value of 15 million dollars in 2020, five times higher than in 2018.
