Well-known Moldovan academician passes away

Chisinau, 11 June /MOLDPRES/ - Academician, Merited Man, Laureate of the National Prize, holder of the Order of the Republic and Labour Glory Order Gheorghe Tabarna died at the age of 78 years today.
Gheorghe Tabarna was the founder of the school of oncology in the field of surgery of the head and neck region.
Gheorghe Tabarna was born in the Sangereii-Vechi village, presently Sangerei district, on 16 February 1944. In 1967, he graduated from the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy from Chisinau (USMF) in 1967. In 1973, Tabarna maintained the thesis of doctor and in 1982 – the one PhD in medical sciences. In 1993, he was elected corresponding member of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences (ASM) and in 2007 – titular member (academician).
Tabarna worked as director of the Oncological Institute (1990-1995), head of the department of oncology at USMF, academician coordinator of the ASM medical sciences section. He was author of more than 600 works: monographs, scientific articles, teaching materials, invention patents, etc.
Academician Gheorghe Tabarna will be buried at the Central Orthodox Cemetery from the Armeneasca Street of Chisinau on 13 June.
