Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/ - The tariff for one travel in the public transport from Chisinau will be 6 lei starting from 1 July 2022. The Moldovan capital’s city hall has made statements to this effect, after the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) today approved the methodology of calculation of the tariff for one travel by the municipal public transport.

Under the decision, the Chisinau general mayor is empowered with establishing the concerned value for the calculation of the tariff of one travel by trolley bus and bus and the approval of the travel tariffs in the public transport of the Chisinau city. Thirty councilors voted for this draft.

According to the capital’s city hall, the new methodology was worked out and presented by experts. Thus, the price calculated by them is 6 lei for one travel both by trolley bus and by bus, for the city and its suburbs.

The institution informed that the amendments saw that 200,000 pensioners would travel for free. The stimulation regards also 40,000 children and pupils up to the fifth form. Only children till the age of 7 years have earlier enjoyed free of charge travel. Another 18 categories of people, including the vulnerable ones, will not pay the travel ticket.

Also, according to the amendments, by purchasing a travel card, a person will be able to travel from suburbs to Chisinau and back, no matter whether he/she changes the transport from trolley bus to bus and the price and the travel card will remain single and unchanged. Thus, the travel card for one month will cost 234 lei; 594 lei for three months and 972 lei for half a year.

The last time, the municipal councilors changed the tariffs for public transport in 2009. The changes made today were reasoned by the increases in tariffs for electric energy and fuels.
