Two men to be tried for illegal migration

Chisinau, June 14 / MOLDPRES /- Two men from the south of the country will be tried for organizing illegal migration in respect of four citizens of Turkey, who intended to get to work in Poland, through Ukraine.

According to the General Prosecutor's Office, the suspects are 24 years old and live in Comrat and Vulcanesti. In June 2021 - January 2022, they offered illegal services to Turkish citizens, provided them with forged Moldovan passports for access to the states of the European Union, and transported them to the customs crossing point in Ceadâr-Lunga , where they were found and stopped. For this service, the defendants received 4000-6000 euros from each victim.

Turkish citizens cooperated with the investigating authorities. Later, with the support of the Turkish Embassy in Chisinau, they returned home.

In this case, the law enforcement officers carried out several searches in April, including in Comrat and Vulcănești. Following these, the two suspects were detained and later placed in custody.

According to the law, the organization of illegal migration is punishable by a fine of 67,500 lei (3,300 euros) or imprisonment for up to seven years.
