Dactyloscopic database to be expanded

Chisinau, June 15 / MOLDPRES /- The Cabinet of Ministers today approved the note on amending the Law on State Fingerprinting.
According to the government's communication and protocol department, the purpose of the project is to exclude from the compulsory dactyloscopic registration the citizens of the Republic of Moldova who go to work abroad. At the same time, the obligation to pay the dactyloscopic registration service for the drivers of the means of transport is excluded.
In addition to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, compulsory fingerprinting will be carried out by other institutions designated for this purpose by the Government, procedures for drivers of means of transport, citizens who, due to health or age, are incapable to communicate data on their identity and to foreign nationals and stateless persons who have arrived in the Republic of Moldova in search of asylum or to be granted refugee status.
The procedure will make more efficient the public services provided to the citizens of the Republic of Moldova, will expand the dactyloscopic database of people active in the country who obtain their driving license, apply for asylum status or are unable to identify themselves. According to the MAI forecast, the actions will help secure communities by uncovering crimes that date back several years, and their perpetrator is unknown.
