Great Romanian poet commemorated in Moldovan capital at 133rd anniversary of death

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - Poet Mihai Eminescu today was commemorated in Chisinau, on the occasion of the 133rd anniversary of his death.
Writers, culture and art people, representatives of the central and local public administration and people fond of poetry today morning laid flowers at the bust to Mihai Eminescu on the Alley of Classics of the Romanian Literature from the Stefan cel Mare Public Garden of Chisinau. A literary and musical recital took place subsequently.
In his speech, the head of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, Teo Chiriac, said that today was a day when we remember once again the life and the work by Mihai Eminescu. ‘’It is good for us to fulfill what Eminescu said in his work, especially in the political one. He gave us clear-cut answers about who we are, where we come from and where to we go,’’ Teo Chiriac stressed.
For his part, writer Arcadie Suceveanu said Mihai Eminescu had been was and would remain our contemporary. In the context, poet ion Hadarca highlighted that Mihai Eminescu was one of the great spirits of the European culture.
Mihai Eminescu, regarded by the posthumous literary criticism as the most important poetic voice of the Romanian literature, was born in Botosani, Romania, on 15 January 1950. He died on 15 June 1889. The poet was buried at the Bellu Cemetery from Bucharest. In 1948, Mihai Eminescu was posthumously elected member of the Romanian Academy.
