Moldovan PM had phone conversation with Prime Minister of Hungary

Chisinau, June 16 / MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilița had a telephone conversation with her Hungarian counterpart Victor Orban. The discussion focused on strengthening the European integration process of the Republic of Moldova, developing bilateral economic relations and attracting new investment, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Gavrilita welcomed the resumption of the Chisinau - Budapest flights of the Hungarian company, following the involvement of the two governments. At the same time, officials appreciated the increase in trade between the two countries and the increase in Hungarian investment in Moldova.

The two also discussed the application for membership of the European Union, recently submitted by the Republic of Moldova, and obtaining the status of candidate country at the end of June, at the European Council.

The premier said that at this moment, European integration is a major concern for the Cabinet of Ministers she leads and, moreover, it has become a national desideratum: “The Republic of Moldova needs a boost, a strategic objective. And obtaining the status of candidate country would mobilize the whole society around this national idea. We know that a long process is coming and we are ready to do our homework as required. "

The Prime Minister asked for Hungary's support in this endeavor. Victor Orban confirmed that Hungary has been the supporter of the Republic of Moldova on the path of European integration over the years and will give our country all the support in obtaining the candidate status.
