Wastewater treatment plant built at winery in Ialoveni district

Chisinau, June 20 / MOLDPRES /- About two million euros were provided from European Union funds for the construction of the first wastewater treatment plant in the Republic of Moldova in a winery in Puhoi, Ialoveni district, and the inauguration of the station took place late last week.
The investment was made through the European Investment Bank, the money being offered in the form of a loan under the Livada Moldovei Project.
"We appreciate the efforts of entrepreneurs and development partners to create new opportunities, boost competitiveness and ensure high quality products. This success is also an example for other grape growers and processors. The results presented by the wine sector are gratifying. Last year, at the international competitions, our winemakers won over 1200 medals ", Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Viorel Gherciu said.
The treatment plant has a wastewater treatment capacity of 180 cubic meters per day. "Thanks to this water purification station we will be able to contribute significantly to environmental protection. Thanks to an investment of almost two million euros from the EU, the infrastructure, the purchase of agricultural equipment and equipment for wine production have also been improved. Another significant thing is that these investments have created new jobs. I appreciate the cooperation and I am sure that other success stories will follow in the Livada Moldovei project, said Alberto Carlei, head of the European Investment Bank's office in the Republic of Moldova.
Livada Moldovei is a 120 million euro credit line. The project is financed by the European Union through the European Investment Bank and initiated by the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
