Chisinau, June 20 / MOLDPRES /- Vehicles weighing more than 20 tons are banned from driving on some national routes on days when the air temperature exceeds 30 degrees Celsius.

According to the General Inspectorate of Police, the restrictions do not apply to the transport of passengers, vehicles carrying food, materials to prevent or eliminate exceptional situations.

Road signs are installed on the routes, by which drivers are warned about the ban, and those who will not comply with the requirements risk a fine of up to 4,500 lei - for private people and up to 15,000 lei - for legal entities. The purpose of the ban is to prevent damage to roads with asphalt pavements.

Law enforcement urges drivers to drive in the evening and at night, when temperatures drop. At the same time, taking into account that it is harder to drive at night, the police recommend that drivers have a colleague with them to replace them so that they can rest.
