Chisinau, June 20 / MOLDPRES /- Moldpres celebrated 32nd anniversary today.

Moldpres Agency is aimed to ensure the production and dissemination of information, publication and editing of official documents, informing the public opinion in the country and abroad on the state policy and the current activity of public authorities in the Republic of Moldova, providing publishing, printing and advertising, production and marketing of photo and video materials. Founded by the Decision of the Supreme Soviet of the MSSR No122-XII of June 20, 1990 following the liquidation of ATEM, Moldpres has insistently acquired the status of official "voice" of the state that transmits to public and private institutions, print and audiovisual media, diplomatic missions, international media written information, photos and videos about local, political, cultural, scientific, scientific, local and world sports news. First director-general of the institution was journalist Vasile Vatamanu. Over the years, the institution has been run by Dumitru Țâra, Boris Marian, Mihail Belous, Ion Corețchi, Valeriu Reniță, Vlad Darie and Andrei Volentir, and currently the position of director is held by deputy head Viorel Buzdugan.

Immediately after its establishment, the National Press Agency Moldova-press, as originally defined, establishes the first collaboration relations with the National Press Agency Rompres (Romania) and ITAR-TASS News Agency (Russia). From the first day of the Transnistrian conflict until the signing of the ceasefire agreement, Moldpres reporters consistently reported the situation in the conflict zone, which at the time was the only true source of information in the region.

Subordinated to the initial stage of the Parliament, in 1994 the Agency came under the management of the Government of the Republic of Moldova and became the editor of the Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova. Subsequently, some structural changes occurred, which aimed to streamline the managerial activity and transform Moldpres into a modern media structure, with three main directions of activity: editing the Official Journal, disseminating information of general public interest and photo chronicle.

In 1996, the Agency became a state-owned enterprise, operating on a self-financing basis. The following year, cooperation was established with the BELTA News Agency (Belarus), and in 2001 Moldpres became a full member of the Balkan Association of News Agencies (ABNA), which includes its respective structures in Turkey, Albania, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Slovenia, Yugoslavia and Northern Macedonia. In the same year, Moldpres signed cooperation agreements for the exchange of information with DINAU News Agency (Ukraine), MTI (Hungary) and NEW CHINA (People's Republic of China).

Since July 2001, already under the name of State Agency, Moldpres is subordinated to the State Chancellery of the Government of the Republic of Moldova. The Agreement on cooperation in information was signed in Sofia, Bulgaria on 20 May 2004 between the Moldpres Agency and BTA, and the cooperation agreement with UKRINFORM was signed in March 2006. The Cooperation Protocol between Moldpres and the Belarusian Telegraph Agency BELTA is renewed in June of the same year. In 2010, after a long period of stagnation, the collaboration relations between the national press agencies of Romania and the Republic of Moldova are resumed - AGERPRES and Moldpres, and the mutual exchange of news, information and the sale of photographic products will take place. În 2018, by the government decision, Moldpres State News Agency is reorganized by transformation into a public institution, having as founder the State Chancellery.

In accordance with professional ethics, Moldpres is guided by the principle of activity outside any political or ideological influences or otherwise that would affect impartiality, accuracy and pluralism. An important direction in the last activity of the Agency is the promotion of the image of the Republic of Moldova in the world, the reflection of the events related to the integration of the country in the European structures and the implementation of the western living standards.

The News Editorial Office provides the media market with a wide range of information products under the headings: Official, Society, Politics, Economic, Culture, Regional, Sports, Foreign, Press Releases. Every day, the Agency's reporters reflect the most important events in the country and abroad, contributing to the objective and equidistant information of the general public. The Official Journal of the Republic of Moldova, the only official state publication, a public structure of national interest, which ensures a high level of professionalism in publishing the law that must be known and applied exactly by authorities and citizens, constantly facilitates accurate and fast knowledge of official documents, thus consolidating the rule of law.
