Moldovan, Danish officials broach cooperation

Chisinau, June 21 / MOLDPRES /- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration spoke by telephone with Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark Jeppe Kofod, the MAEIE press service has reported.

The main topic of discussion was the European integration agenda of our country in the context of the Council of the European Union on 23 -24 June and its examination of the issue of the opportunity to grant Moldova the status of candidate country for accession to the European Union.

"I am grateful for Denmark's support for the European Commission's opinion on granting us this status. The support of each EU member state is crucial during this period and we are making diplomatic efforts together with the team from the Presidency, Government and Parliament ", Popescu said.

The two diplomats also referred to the reform agenda and bilateral co-operation with Denmark. In this context, the Moldovan official stressed that the European development of the Republic of Moldova means several initiatives and projects implemented in cooperation with Member States for the benefit of our citizens.
