Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - The procedure of dactiloscopic registration of drivers might be simplified. The members of the parliament’s commission for national security, defence and public order today considered and approved an initiative to this end.
The legislative initiative belongs to a group of MPs of the faction of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS). They suggest that the dactiloscopic data are taken over from drivers only with the use of live scanners and registered in the automated information system, State Dactiloscopic Register, which will be managed by the territorial subdivisions of the Public Services Agency.
According to the quoted source, in 2015, the Interior Ministry benefited from support on behalf of the European Union, within which it received an automated information system of dactiloscopic identification, AFIS, worth 2.7 million euros. This system provides vast possibilities of systematizing, processing and taking over of both fingerprints and palm prints in digital format.
