Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/ - The emergency state might be extended by another 45 days in Moldova as of 24 June 2022. A proposal to this end was approved following the consideration of a report on the need to prolong the state of emergency at a today’s meeting of the Commission for Emergency Situations (CSE), chaired by Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

According to the report, the need to extend the emergency state is prompted by the persistent risks as to the security of Moldova’s supply with energy resources, the impact on the transports sector, the country’s energy supply, security at border and management of refugees’ flow. In these conditions, the Commission for Emergency Situations will be able to quickly intervene, if there is need to take decisions additionally to those established by the current legal framework, in order to provide all consumers with energy resources and maintain the state’s energy security.

According to the CSE Instruction, the Interior Ministry will prepare and submit to government for consideration a draft decision on the submission to Moldova’s parliament of the proposal on extending the emergency state, as well as the draft parliament decision to this effect.
