Moldovan speaker has discussion with Austrian parliamentarians

Chisinau, June 22 / MOLDPRES /- Speaker Igor Grosu spoke today with members of the Parliamentary Friendship Group Austria - Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus, who are visiting our country, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.

Discussions between officials referred to topics such as developments on both banks of the Dniester, the reform agenda of the Republic of Moldova and the regional security situation. Grosu thanked the Austrian parliamentarians for the generous development assistance provided to our country by the Republic of Austria during the 30 years of Moldovan-Austrian diplomatic relations, as well as for the humanitarian assistance provided in the context of the refugee crisis. The speaker said that Moldova will continue to help Ukrainian refugees, giving greater importance to their social integration.

A special topic of discussion was the European agenda. The speaker reiterated that Moldova will continue to remain firmly attached to the processes of European integration, and this sends a message of confidence to our citizens. "We remain firmly rooted in our main goal - reforms - and hope to receive a positive response from the European Council to our application for EU membership. We still have a lot of work to do - justice reform, fighting corruption, strengthening institutions, fighting propaganda - but we will move forward decisively, without compromising our internal agenda, " he said.

The discussions also focused on the importance of boosting cooperation at parliamentary level, especially at the level of parliamentary committees, as well as strengthening economic relations, taking into account regional developments generated by the war in Ukraine.
