Speaker thanked European countries for trust given to Moldova on prospect of EU integration

Chisinau, June 23 / MOLDPRES /-Speaker Igor Grosu thanked the European countries for the trust given to the Republic of Moldova. The message comes after the European Council voted tonight to grant the Republic of Moldova the status of a candidate country for accession to the European Union.

The leadership of the Parliament was determined in the process of carrying out the reforms. "We know what we have to do, because we make the reforms we started first of all for the citizens and for our desire to live with dignity. We have a long way to go, but know that we have started and we are more determined than ever to get home, in the European Union. Thank you, Europe! ”, said Grosu.

At the same time, the speaker appreciated the decision of the European Council on granting Ukraine the status of candidate country for EU membership. "Ukraine has also received candidate country status, which is currently guarding the entire free world, for which our people are eternally grateful," Grosu said.

The decision of the European Council on granting the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine the status of candidate country for accession to the European Union was approved unanimously.
