Law court instructs levying distraint worth over 150 million lei in file of Giurgiulesti port

Chisinau, 30 June /MOLDPRES/ - The law court has instructed the levying of distraint worth over 150 million lei (about 7.5 million euros) on assets which form the authorized capital of the company which manages the Giurgiulesti Free International Port.

According to the Prosecutor General’s Office (PG), the criminal file was opened in 2020 and regards the embezzlement of alien wealth by former decision-makers at the Bemol company. The file regards actions which stayed at the basis of the taking over of the port’s management. As a result of the investigations, in June 2022, a person with role of decision-maker was accused by prosecutors.

The distraint levied has the goal to prevent the sale of assets and ensure the compensation of the damage inflicted.

The criminal prosecution actions continue on this case.
