Moldovan foreign affairs minister has meeting with head of Jewish Community from Moldova

Chisinau, 1 July /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has had a meeting with the head of the Jewish Community of Moldova, Alexandr Bilinkis. The interlocutors tackled aspects on the institutional cooperation and the contribution of the Jewish Community on a spectrum of subjects in the humanitarian, culture, tourism, social and economic sectors, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.    

The Moldovan official expressed gratitude for the significant humanitarian assistance attracted in Moldova through the Jewish Community, including in the context of the flow of refugees who fled the war in Ukraine.   

„We found out together the existence of a potential of cooperation which has not been turned to account on the dimension on deepening of Moldova’s foreign economic relations, in particular with the State of Israel,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said. 

At the same time, the sides agreed on boosting the interaction on subjects regarding the cultural and historical heritage, turning to account of the potential of people born in Moldova who live in the State of Israel, as well as on the line of the international Jewish organizations on the promotion of foreign policy interests, including in the process of Moldova’s integration into the European Union.
