European Union, United Nations Development Programme launch appeal of grants for clusters from two Moldovan cities

Chisinau, 7 July /MOLDPRES/ - The European Union will provide 800,000 euros for eight entities from the Cahul and Ungheni regions, which will back initiatives of clustering. The grants are provided by the European Union, through the EU4Moldova: Focal Regions programme, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the deadline for submitting files is 8 August 2022.     

According to UNDP, the goal of the non-refundable assistance is to promote and support the spirit of cooperation among companies from urban and rural areas, through backing innovating ideas and creation of new jobs. The EU4Moldova: Focal Regions programme is set to support and improve businesses from Cahul and Ungheni, to stimulate the existing companies for cooperation based on the value chains in form of cluster and to encourage possibilities of investments in the region,’’ UNDP said.    

Up to eight non-commercial entities registered and active in one of the districts Cahul or Ungheni, selected at the grants appeal, will benefit from financial assistance which will not exceed 100,000 euros per one project, coming up with its own contribution of at least 10 per cent of the proposal’s overall value. The financial assistance will be allocated for the purchasing of equipment, assets, works and services for the speeding up and development of the clusters present in urban and rural areas.  

The EU4Moldova: Focal Regions programme (2019-2024) supports the intelligent, inclusive and sustainable social and economic development in the Cahul and Ungheni regions, in order to provide the citizens with better living standards. The programme’s overall budget is 23 million euros, financed by the European Union and implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
