Moldovan president says plan on carrying out European Commission's recommendations to be given final touches till late July

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The action plan on the carrying out of the European Commission’s recommendations will be given final touches by the National Commission for European Integration till late July. Afterwards, the plan will be consulted with the European partners and the civil society. President Maia Sandu made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

The head of state today summoned a meeting of the National Commission for European Integration, in order to establish the measures due to be undertaken and the institutions in charge of their implementation.    

„We will take all actions needed, in order to fulfill the conditions set forth by the European Commission, as they meet all our principles. The priority sectors are: justice reform, combating corruption, improvement of the electoral legislation, recovery of the stolen money, reformation of the public institutions, consolidation of the capacities of the central public administration and removing the oligarchs’ influence. I nominated the institutions and people in charge of the monitoring of the process of fulfilling the conditions, as well as the mechanism of presenting the progress made. The document is to be finished till late July; subsequently, it will be discussed with the European partners and the civil society,’’ Maia Sandu said.    

The Moldovan president stressed that, at this stage, additional efforts were needed on behalf of the state, business environment and the entire society. ‘’The success achieved depends on the capacity of carrying out the reforms, but not in the least on the support of the citizens. We must assume this effort together, as the European integration is the most important project of our generation,’’ Maia Sandu said.   

The National Commission for European Integration was set up in late last April. According to President Maia Sandu, the Commission is to hold meetings, in order to set forth the stages of carrying out the recommendations of the European Commission, presented to Moldova following the giving of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union.
