Moldovan cabinet approves creation of fund of reducing energy vulnerability

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Labour and Social Protection Ministry, at a today’s cabinet meeting, presented a draft law on the fund of reducing the energy vulnerability, worked out in order to diminish the impact of the prices for energy on the vulnerable consumers, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

The creation of the fund of reducing the energy vulnerability will allow providing in invoice of the monthly compensations for the consumption of natural gas, electric energy and thermal energy, as well as of a subsidy for the replacement of the technically and morally obsolete household appliances by other ones which are efficient from the energy viewpoint.  

To get the monthly compensations, the household energy consumers will be recorded in the register of energy vulnerability – an electronic system managed by the Labour and Social Protection Ministry, which will allow accumulating the data necessary for the fitting of the consumers in one of the categories of energy vulnerability.   

The classification of the category of vulnerable consumers is based on a string of parameters due to be approved by the government, namely: income, number of family members, share of expenses for energy in the household’s consumption, type of the heating system used, etc.
