Moldovan cabinet approves new measures to carry out project on security of natural gas supply

Chisinau, 13 July /MOLDPRES/ - The ENERGOCOM stock company will be exempted from the obligation to guarantee the reimbursement of the loan and will benefit from fiscal and customs facilities at the import and deliveries of goods (assets, works, services) meant for the implementation of the project, Natural Gas Supply Security. The cabinet approved a draft law to this effect, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.     

To carry out the project, Natural Gas Supply Security, an agreement on loan, worth 300 million euros, was signed between Moldova and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on 23 June 2022 and a pre-condition of the agreement’s entrance into force represents the signing of the contract on re-crediting between the Finance Ministry and the ENERGOCOM stock company.

Thus, at the conclusion of the contract on the loan’s re-crediting, the ENERGOCOM stock company is to guarantee its reimbursement through the signing of a pawn contract.  

It is worth mentioning that, in its capacity of central electric energy provider, the ENERGOCOM stock company does not have enough assets to cover the equivalent value of the sum which is the object of the contract on re-crediting. The draft law also provides for exemption from the payment of the value added tax with and without right of deduction, of excise duties, of the payment of customs duties, of the tax for the carrying out of customs procedures, of the tax on the goods which cause pollution of the environment in the process of use.
