Moldova to benefit from 160 million dollars for support programme in emergency situations

Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova will benefit from about 160 million dollars, in order to carry out a programme on assistance in emergency situation. The parliament today ratified two agreements on financing which provide for the offering of the budgetary support.    

Under the documents, the financial support will be provided by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) and International Development Association (IDA). The resources will be used for the implementation of strategies established by the government in the attenuation of the negative effects triggered by the war in Ukraine, as well as to ensure the resilience and competitiveness of Moldova.

The policies see allowing refugees from Ukraine to enter Moldova with the national identity card and their employment, children’s admission to education and consolidation of social protection programmes.  

The measures stipulate also the enhancement of the capacity of generation of energy from renewable sources, as well as enhancing the households’ financial resilience.   

The agreements with IBRD and IDA were concluded on 4 July and will be implemented in form of budgetary support. A sum of 9.24 million dollars out of the overall sum of 159.24 million dollars represents the grant component.
