Chisinau, 14 July /MOLDPRES/ - The National Food Safety Agency (ANSA) today informed about the identification of one case of African Swine Fever Virus (ASFV), registered in the southern Cahul district.

„On 13 July, through laboratory testing, decision-makers confirmed the presence of ASFV in samples collected from domestic pigs found dead in a non-professional household in the Zarnesti village, Cahul district,’’ ANSA said.

The territorial food safety subdivision from Cahul started an epidemiological inquiry and undertakes measures to combat and liquidate this hotbed, under the legislation’s provisions.

In the context, ANSA asks owners of swine to urgently inform its territorial subdivisions for food safety, veterinary physicians or local public authorities, if animals fall sick and die or about the detection of corpses of wild boars. Also, ANSA asks the swine owners not to use food waste in pigs’ feeding and to observe the minimal requirements of biosecurity.
