Chisinau, 21 July /MOLDPRES/ - An exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Moldova and the Federal Republic of Germany was inaugurated at the National History Museum of Moldova today.

According to the director of the host institution, Eugen Sava, the exhibition comprises 11 banners and shows the development of the diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The exhibition was opened by Vice President of the German Bundestag Kathrin Göring-Eckhardt, on the occasion of her visit to Chisinau. In her speech, the German official said that, in the last 30 years, Germany had held Moldova anchored in the European community of values and its long-term development and stabilization through sustainable reforms towards democracy and rule of law state. The cooperation between the two countries in the culture, development cooperation and economy sectors is quite close. Germany is one of the most important commercial partners of Moldova and is among the most important importers and exporters. Numerous projects of the German embassy and organizations concretely contributed to the improving of the Moldovans’ living conditions.

”Germany was the first country of the Western Europe to recognize Moldova’s Independence. The political relations between our countries have been exceptionally close starting from moment when Maia Sandu took over the mandate of president and I can assure you that discussions on Moldova were held quite often in Germany. Your country does incredibly much for the people who had to leave Ukraine because of the war. Your country is in process of transformation and, at the same time, this assistance it provides to refugees is quite impressive. Moldova is already part of the European family. We want and we will back Moldova on its way to the European Union. Within this exhibition, I discovered impressive figures. More than 10,000 pupils from about 80 schools from Moldova study the German language. Between our countries, there are partnerships between cities and cooperation between universities. This exhibition has been earlier presented at the headquarters of the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry; now it is here; this is a mobile exhibition. It is also to be displayed in other locations, including outside Chisinau,’’ Kathrin Göring-Eckhardt also said.

The diplomatic relations between Moldova and Germany were established on 30 April 1992. There are over 100 commercial companies with German capital in Moldova. German companies created about 9,000 jobs. The German direct investments in Moldova amount to 300 million dollars.

The exhibition will be open till 21 August.
