Moldovan PM participates in launch of Organization for Entrepreneurship Development

Chisinau, 22 July /MOLDPRES/ - The Organization for Entrepreneurship Development (ODA) was created today, following the reorganization of the Organization for Small and Medium Enterprises Sector Development (ODIMM). At the launch event, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that the institution’s reorganization implied the implementation of modern programmes, enhancing the transparency in providing grants and a new strategic approach, with emphasis on the financial, logistic and technical support provided to those who start and develop businesses, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
„We want ODA to become a linking bridge between the state and entrepreneurs and to really be proactive in the identification of the entrepreneurial potential of our citizens of any age, from any region of the country, from any activity sector. The government believes in the entrepreneurial potential of this country and it can be turned to good account through the authorities’ involvement in the key moments of businesses’ development,’’ Natalia Gavrilita said.
According to the PM, one of the tasks of ODA deals with the optimization of the connection between the support potential which Moldova can receive from foreign partners and the country’s human potential. This organization will work according to new principles, with modern processes of taking decisions and with a budget increased by the government, from 140 million lei to 340 million lei. Also, due to the close cooperation with the European Union, the cabinet undertook also other actions, in order to turn Moldova more attractive in terms of investments. Thus, the export quotas were increased for a string of agro-food products, the road transport was liberalized and following the today’s decision by the cabinet, the small and medium enterprises will benefit from grants for the modernization of the production equipment and actions of energy efficiency.
„Despite the difficult period we cover, there are opportunities which we should not miss. The changes will be complex and long-term in all fields and ODA can play a fundamental role in the economy sector and business development,’’ the prime minister also said.
Attending the meeting, Head of the European Union Delegation in Moldova Jānis Mažeiks stressed that the small enterprises played an essential role in the edification of the modern economies and Moldova would be assisted in continuation in their development: ‘’Once Moldova got the new status of country candidate for EU, the European Union will continue backing the support programmes for the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and the new Organization for Entrepreneurship Development, in order to contribute to the country’s stronger economy and to the well-being of its citizens.’’
Economics Minister Sergiu Gaibu said that the reorganization occurred had been absolutely necessary, in order to widen the institution’s mandate and find viable solutions to support and foster the private sector of the national economy: ‘’We assist the crowning of a great effort made together with our international experts and partners. This is a deep reorganization of the institution, not just a rebranding. We are set to help more the entrepreneurs to overcome the crisis period, through which the entire mankind and not only our country goes. Moreover, we want to increase the number of entrepreneurs, to develop new programmes and sectors which, as a result, should generate jobs.’’
For his part, the ODA acting director, Dumitru Pintea, said that the new institution was set to be strong, with modern governance, able to come up with clear solutions for entrepreneurs, especially on crisis periods. ‘’The institution’s governance will be adjusted to the modern requirements and principles, in order to ensure increased transparency, more efficient processes and capacity of extended absorption of foreign partners’ financing. We will provide a wide spectrum of programmes and assistance of higher level at the preparation of investment projects, in order to contribute to the sustainable development of businesses, from their launch to their internationalization,’’ Dumitru Pintea added.
