Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - A man from the Moldovan capital has been detained for influence peddling. He would have received 1,500 euros bribe for hushing up a criminal file.
According to the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), the suspect would have promised a person that he was able to help him/her to evade criminal liability for driving drunk, as he would have influence on prosecutors, as well as inquirers from the Ialoveni Police Inspectorate.
For his services, the perpetrator would have received 1,500 euros from the denouncer. Given that the promises were not kept, the latter demanded the returning of the money; otherwise, he will denounce the perpetrator to law-enforcers.
The suspect was detained for 72 hours and placed in CNA’s isolation ward.
