Documentary film about well-known Moldovan writer launched

Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - Telefilm Chisinau, in partnership with the Eugene Ionesco National Theatre, on 25 July organized the first screening of a documentary titled, Zbor (Flight) by Eugeniu Popovici, about writer Vladimir Besleaga. The premiere took place on the day when the writer turned 91 years.  

Attending the event were President Maia Sandu, Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu, Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita, Culture Minister Sergiu Prodan, the director general of the Teleradio Moldova Public Company, Vlad Turcanu, the director of Telefilm Chisinau, Mircea Surdu, culture and art people.     

In her speech, President Maia Sandu said, inter alia, that Vladimir Besleaga was the man who had not let himself defeated by the times and continued his flight even when he had his wing broken.  ”This is the most important lesson which we can learn from him. We need such models, to whom we can refer especially in times of distress which we experience. We wish a long life, good health and full of inspiration to the man, artist, bearer of moral authority Vladimir Besleaga!’’ Maia Sandu wished to the writer.   

For his part, the director general of the Teleradio Moldova Public Company, Vlad Turcanu said that Vladimir Besleaga gave us an example of lucidity. ‘’He is one of the Last Mohicans who survived both from the physical viewpoint and from the spiritual one,’’ Turcanu said. The director of Telefilm Chisinau, Mircea Surdu, stressed that director Eugeniu Popovici had got close to a mount of our culture.  

Vladimir Besleaga was born in the Malaiesti village, eastern Grigoriopol district, on 25 July 1931. In 1955, he graduated from the Moldovan State University (USM) and trained for the doctor’s degree at the same University with the research subject, Liviu Rebreanu, novelist. He worked as editor-in-chief at the Nistru magazine, secretary of the Moldovan Writers’ Union, director of the Dimitrie Cantemir Republican Literature Museum /presently Mihail Kogalniceanu National Literature Museum.     

Besleaga made his editorial debut with a prose volume in 1956. He wrote a lot of novels and signed works of memoir prose, diaries, etc.
