Chisinau, 26 July /MOLDPRES/ - The government proposes the Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy for public consultation and discussion. In the extremely difficult present context, given that Moldova is hit by regional and global crises, the cabinet is set to define a medium- and long-term development vision, in order to consolidate the resilience to the future crises and create the basis for the country’s sustainable and inclusive development, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.

Thus, the strategy is the long-term national document which describes the country’s development directions and which adapts the priorities, goals, indexes and targets of the international commitments taken by Moldova to the national context. It is about especially the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement and the commitments coming from the status of country candidate for joining EU, as well as the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The document’s need is prompted by the ensuring of a single and coherent framework which is to strengthen the public policies. Moreover, the urgency of a strategic document is conditioned also by the new economic, social and security realities which affect Moldova, just as the entire region and even the world. The COVID-19 pandemic, energy crisis, accelerated price increases, recurrent droughts and floods, economic crises and the new one, triggered by Russia’s military invasion in Ukraine, all of them highlight the importance of a document of planning, which is to contribute both to a better adaptation to the new realities and to enhance the process of development through the turning to good account of the opportunities and active prevention of risks.

For Moldova’s sustainable development, the most important dimensions of the life quality are as follows: income, conditions for living, education, culture, health, social solidarity, confidence in governance, human security and environment’s quality. The strategy’s goals meet the urgent needs of the society. In this respect, the document makes direct connection between the aspirations of well-being, on the one hand, and the policies due to contribute to these goals, on the other hand.

The document will also guide the assistance of Moldova’s development partners in relation with the national priorities of development and will ensure a better coordination of the projects and resources available. Another mission of the strategy will be to mobilize the representatives of the civil society and scientific community to strengthen their joint efforts for the priority sectors and fields which ensure the quality of life.

Proposals and recommendations for the draft Moldova 2030 National Development Strategy can be submitted to the email [email protected] till 15 August 2022.
