Chisinau, 27 July /MOLDPRES/ - Gazprom becomes a not quite reliable and uncertain provider; this is clearly seen following more statements by the Russian giant; therefore, we must adopt a string of quick measures to supply the country with gas, no matter the provider. Deputy Prime Minister, Infrastructure and Regional Development Minister Andrei Spinu today made statements to this effect at the cabinet meeting.
The deputy PM made the statements in the context of the discussions on the prolongation of the emergency state in Moldova, caused by the war in Ukraine. According to the official, the extension of the emergency state is needed, in order to allow the state taking the proper decisions to supply the country with thermal agent, given Russia’s threats to reduce the volumes of natural gas delivered in the region.
In the context, Andrei Spinu reiterated that Moldova would stick to the previous decisions in the sense of diminishing the energy risks. ‘’The government will identify all measures, so that we have gas, no matter the provider, so that the residents and the economic are not hit or the leverages allowed by the state of emergency will represent an advantage,’’ the deputy PM noted.
At the beginning of the today’s cabinet meeting, the cabinet members approved a decision on the extension of the emergency state, declared on 24 February with the starting of the war in Ukraine. The document was submitted to parliament for consideration.
