Well-known Moldovan actress, stage manager marks birthday anniversary

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - A well-known actress, stage manager, professor of theatrical art of the Master Class Studio Theatre, Master in Art Nelly Cozaru marks her 60th birthday anniversary today.
Nelly Cozaru was born in the Stefanesti village, Suvorov district (presently Stefan Voda district) in 1962. She graduated from the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute within the E.B. Vakhtangov Theatre from Moscow (1980-1985). After graduating the faculty, Cozaru worked at the Luceafarul republican theatre for children and youth (1985-1990; 1990-1991). In 1990, a group of 13 actors led by Petru Vutcarau, among whom also Nelly Cozaru, left the Luceafarul theatre and created an ambulant theatre. The new troupe, called already the Eugene Ionesco Theatre, temporarily settled in Ramnicu Valcea, Romania, where they were provided accommodation and a stage, where they could stage and present plays.
In the summer of 1991, the Eugene Ionesco theatre returned to Chisinau and was officialized at the Culture Ministry in the autumn of the same year. Cozaru worked in the troupe of this theatre as of 1991 till 1998. Afterwards, staring from 1998 till present, Nelly Cozaru worked with interruptions (1998-2000, 2003-2006, 2015-2021) as actress, as well as stage manager at the Chisinau-based Mihai Eminescu National Theatre.
Nelly Cozaru’s acting works were awarded a string of important prizes.
Cozaru staged a string of successful plays with her students. Meeting the latter’s wish to present their plays to a wide public, in 2010, Nelly Cozaru founded the Master Class Studio Theatre, whose director she has been so far. In 2004, Cozaru was awarded the honorific title of Master in Art and in 2021 – the Prize of the President of the Theatre Union of Moldova (UNITEM) for theatre pedagogy.
