Subject on posts illegally set re-tackled at meeting of Joint Control Commission

18:57 | 28.07.2022 Category: Official

Chisinau, 28 July /MOLDPRES/ - A new meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) took place in Bender today, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.

The participants in the meeting resumed the discussions on the situation in the perimeter of the Security Zone (ZS) and the way the basic acts of the peacekeeping operation at Dniester are observed.

Taking into account that the participants in the today’s meeting, as well as in the last three months, the Commission did not approve a decision on the problems dealing with the illegally set posts and at the same time, taking into consideration that August is a period of break in JCC’s work, Moldova’s Delegation submitted to JCC a call, thereby asking the sides to abstain from unilateral actions able to jeopardize the work of the peacekeeping process in ZS.

The call was presented in the context that earlier in August of the last years, the military formations of the Transnistrian region held military  manoeovres in ZS with the involvement of military technology.

Representatives of the OSCE Mission in Moldova repeatedly notified the Commission about the fact that they were intimidated and their free movement in the Security Zone was restricted, as the previous press release reads: https://gov.md/ro/content/comisia-unificata-de-control-sesizata-despre-restrictionarea-de-catre-tiraspol-liberei.

JCC also considered the reports by the Joint Military Command for the periods 13-19 July and, respectively, 20-26 July 2022, which covered the presence of the posts unilaterally set by Tiraspol starting from 26 April this year.

The attempts to find consensus on the issue of illegal posts failed again because of the destructive and provocative behavior of the Transnistrian delegation.
