Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The European Commission has suggested the extension of four TEN-T (Trans-European Transport Network) transport corridors up to Ukraine and Moldova, in order to improve the transport connectivity between these two countries and the European Union. A European MP, Siegfried Muresan, today made statements to this effect on a social network.
According to the official, those four corridors will be extended, so as such key points are included as: Lviv, Kiev, Chisinau and the Mariupol and Odessa ports. ‘’This is a good news for the Ukrainian and Moldovan citizens. These corridors will facilitate the economic exchanges and will lead to the creation of better transport connections. At the same time, the Commission’s proposal establishes that the new railway lines, which are constructed in EU member states and have a land border with Ukraine and Moldova, should be carried out based on the European standard gauge,’’ Siegfried Muresan said.
Also, the European Commission proposed the taking out of Russia and Belarus from the map of TEN-T corridors. ‘’The cooperation with these states is no longer in the interest of the European Union, taking into account the present context,’’ Muresan noted.
The Trans-European Transport Network is a project of investments underway of the European Union, which provides for the creation of road, railway and naval transport corridors.
