15:46 | 29.07.2022 Category: Political

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament voted amendments to the legislation on the judicial organization in the final reading today.

The document’s goal is to synchronize the legal provisions with the constitutional amendments on the judicial system, which entered into force on 1 April 2022.

Under the legislative amendments, the procedure of appointment of all judges is unified. Also, the initial term of appointment of magistrates to office is removed. The procedure of transfer from one institution to another, if it is of the same level of inferior one, was changed too. In this case, the Moldovan president’s decree will no longer be needed. Also, the draft sees amendments to the composition, duration of the mandates and the powers of the Superior Council of Magistracy.

After the document’s entrance into force, the judges who were convicted for an offence dealing with the exercising of the job powers or who harm the institution’s image will remain without special pension. Also, if a final ruling has not been still issued, the providing of the one-off allowance on dismissal from office will be suspended.
