Event on 30th anniversary of creation of joint Peacekeeping Forces held in east Moldova village

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - A ceremony on the 30th anniversary of the introduction of the peacekeeping operation in the perimeter of Moldova’s Security Zone has been organized at the independent Battalion 3 infantry of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces (FMP) from Cosnita, eastern Dubasari district, the Reintegration Policies Bureau reported.   

Attending the event were Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Oleg Serebrian, representatives of Moldova’s Delegation to the Joint Control Commission (JCC) and the Reintegration Policies Bureau, the strength of the military contingent of the Peacekeeping Forces on behalf of Moldova.  

Oleg Serebrian presented a message of appreciation for the efforts made to maintain peace and security, as well as for the dedication showed for Moldova, the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In his speech, the head of the Moldovan delegation to JCC, Ion Solonenco, stressed that the peace, public order, free movement and well-being of the citizens were goals constantly promoted by the peacekeepers on behalf of Moldova, in cooperation with the local law-enforcement bodies and public authorities and the country’s reintegration and the removing of the obstacles between the two banks of Nistru remained constant strategic desiderata.     

At the festive ceremony, some peacekeepers were awarded distinctions and honorary diplomas for the irreproachable fulfillment of the service and for good results in the professional work.  

The Joint Peacekeeping Forces were created according to the agreements reached under the Accord on the principles of peaceful settlement of the armed conflict from Moldova’s Transnistrian region, signed on 21 July 1992. FMP was nominated in charge of the monitoring of the situation and maintaining stability in the Security Zone.
