Moldovan parliament's spring session finished

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament today adopted a draft decision on the finishing of the 2022 spring session.
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu gave a speech at the parliament’s rostrum. The official said that this parliamentary session had been held in one of the most difficult periods in the history of Moldova’s, as well as of the entire region.
„The unjustified Russian military aggression in Ukraine overthrew the natural course of things. Immediately after the starting of the war, we had to declare emergency state, which continues, unfortunately. The state needs to react quickly, in order to ensure the security of its citizens and of the tens of thousands of refugees who found shelter in our country,’’ the official stressed.
The speaker noted that the greatest achievement of this period had been the receiving of the status of country candidate for accession to the European Union. ‘’Yes, the tragic events from Ukraine sped up this process; yet, I do not think that we would have succeeded without the determination and resolution of our people. We understand that this will be a difficult road, that much work and perseverance will be necessary; yet, we know where we go and what actions we should undertake. We have to do much homework, beginning with justice, energy security, economic, regional development and minorities’ protection,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The parliament’s leadership also thanked the lawmakers for the labour carried out. ‘’The initiatives with which you have come up, the contradictory discussions I believe that they eventually culminated with good laws, expected by our citizens. I suggest you that we continue in the same way,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The parliament meeting ended with the honouring of the state flag and the sounding of the national anthem.
The parliament holds two sessions per year. The spring session starts in February and cannot exceed the end of July. The autumn session starts in September and cannot exceed the end of December.
