Former Moldovan president allowed to communicate only with his family members, according to Chisinau Court of Appeal

Chisinau, 29 July /MOLDPRES/ - The former Moldovan president, Igor Dodon, has permission to communicate only with the members of his family. The judges of the Chisinau Court of Appeal today issued a ruling to this effect, upon prosecutors’ approach.
Following the court session, the case prosecutor, Petru Iarmaliuc, said that the magistrates had partially admitted the prosecution’s request. Thus, defendant Igor Dodon is banned from getting out of his home. At the same time, he is allowed to communicate only with the members of his family, with whom he lives or with his mother. If Igor Dodon infringes the ruling set by the court, then prosecutors will demand his transfer to preventive arrest,’’ Iarmaliuc noted.
Presently, the former head of state, Igor Dodon, is prosecuted under home arrest. On 21 July 2022, the magistrates of the Chisinau Court, Ciocana headquarters, extended the warrant of arrest against him for another 30 days.
The former Moldovan president was detained in last mid-May, being suspected of committing the following offences: passive corruption, acceptance of political party’s financing by a criminal organization, high treason and illicit enrichment.
